Eco Committee 2019/20

Cardonald Eco Committee is led by Miss Thomson and 13 wonderful pupils from across the school.

What has the Eco Committee been doing?

We kicked off our first eco task by asking family and friends of the school to donate old unwanted Christmas decorations for our school tree. By using old decorations that would have gone to landfill and a real tree which we can replant we managed to have an eco-friendly Christmas tree for the local church's Christmas tree festival.

Our plan this year is to:

Promote better methods of transport for getting to and from school. To start this off the school has recently had a bike and scooter shed installed. This means pupils who want to come on their bike or scooter can have it securely locked away during the school day.

We want to work on litter. Our eco reps will be taking turns to make sure that our playground and lunch hall is kept tidy. We also want to promote keeping our local area tidy. We hope to have a community clear up nearer the end of the school year.

We want to work on waste minimisation within the school. We plan to do this by reducing, reusing and recycling. We have recently installed bins around the school to allow us to recycle paper, card and plastic bottles. We also plan to recycle our plastic whiteboard and felt tip pens when they run out. The eco reps will also be promoting our battery recycling facility and rag bag station throughout the school and we will be spreading the word to our local community via our school twitter page.
