At Cardonald Primary school we are always looking at new and innovative ways to develop the skills and attitudes of our pupils, preparing them for life in the 21st century. The development of financial awareness is an essential tool for every young person, and we have been working in partnership with Pollok Credit Union to provide our pupils with the opportunity to develop the habit of saving, from an early age.
To support this, we have created the Cardonald Primary Credit Union, a savings opportunity for all pupils. The Credit Union is run entirely by, pupils and parent volunteers. Primary 7 pupils have the opportunity to apply for jobs as bank volunteers. This involves completing a job application form, attending an interview and training in the relevant skills. Children throughout the school then have the opportunity to deposit savings on a weekly basis.
